Framework and Responsibilities
Environment, health and safety management is about putting Pfizer values into practice every day. Each colleague addresses EHS risks and opportunities within his or her sphere of influence, supported by EHS professionals who are integrated into our business at every level.
The Pfizer EHS management system provides our framework for excellence. It defines roles and responsibilities and sets objectives and targets to minimize risk and improve performance.
The governance framework is at the core of this system. All levels of the company have a part in managing EHS risk, beginning at the top with the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. The Audit Committee charter is executed through globally applied, locally implemented EHS Standards (set and monitored by the Corporate EHS function).
EHS moves beyond compliance and risk management through the oversight and strategy set by the Corporate Governance Committee and the Environmental Sustainability Council. In this context, our EHS program enhances Pfizer's reputation and visibility as a global corporate citizen.
